He will be referring me for a neuropsych evaluation. I should find out early next week when that appointment will be.
He checked out the spasticity in my hand (which was normal-bad due to the stress of the appointment), and he recommended botox shots. He said I'd get several shots in the back of my hand, then the therapist would work with me, stretching the muscles. It sounded like the therapist would be the one to administer the shots.
We talked about my EEG results. The scan was clear, meaning no aberrant (his word) electrical spikes. However, he still believes my side going numb is due to electrical problems in my brain. He said most likely what is happening is my normal electrical currents in my brain hit my avm weird sometimes and shoot off in confusion, causing the numbness. So it's not a bad electrical charge, just kinda tainted a little from the cluster of scar tissue and abnormal blood vessels. He said the medication he prescribed 3 months ago should still help calm the nerves. He said this medication also helps headaches, so maybe I'll get two for one! He said to take it for one week and see how I feel, that if I'm having bad side effects, they should show up within a week. He said if the risk isn't worth the benefit, to stop taking it. He said if the benefit is worth the risk, we'll do blood work every six months to make sure my body isn't reacting worse on the inside.
If we haven't heard from the referral doctors by Tuesday, we'll be calling the neurologist back and asking what's up.
So many praises and prayer requests from this appointment, but my brain is wrung out. Feel free to claim something you think I need prayer for and share it with me.
