My parents recently moved to a house with land, so EJ wanted a camp out birthday party. Well, due to too many circumstances beyond our control, no one came. So EJ and his daddy just camped out, and it was still fun.
That has been EJ's mantra in the days and weeks leading up to his birthday. My answer is always the same: Let's not talk about that right now! My parents recently moved to a house with land, so EJ wanted a camp out birthday party. Well, due to too many circumstances beyond our control, no one came. So EJ and his daddy just camped out, and it was still fun. My mom made a campfire cake and EJ got lots of Legos and a pretty cool tackle box to store them all in (along with some tasty granola cereal)!

The other day I was flipping through EJ's old English tests, and I realized that he never quite grasped the concept of subjects and predicates. The book we have didn't spend an exorbitant amount of time on them, so I searched the web for some worksheets to go over with him. I found about ten common core worksheets (gasp! don't tell those Republicans!) and he's done about half. I think he's finally grasping how to recognize the subject and predicate of a sentence!
One of the worksheets instructs the student to fill in the blank with his own subject. I was looking forward to seeing what EJ's imagination would come up with. :-) The notebook...cooked dinner for us. Our mice...went to the store to buy food. The shoe...is chewing on a bone. The paintball...chased a mouse in the barn. The kneecap...fell in the mud. The clock...plays a game on the computer. "The Claw" [from Toy Story]...helps me with my homework. Mommy's tonsil...sleeps with a teddy bear. The tail...cut the grass with the mower. My soap...drove a red car. Sometimes he just cracks me up! |
Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
