But the season does have some perks. Christmas, for one. Christmas music, for another (or at least, being able to listen to it without half the world thinking you're crazy). Ice skating. Sledding and/or skiing if you live in the north or go on vacation. Hands down, though, this has to be the greatest winter perk of all: egg nog.
There are not very many good things about winter, in my opinion. It's cold, sickness abounds, it's cold, you have to be bundled up all the time, did I mention it's cold?! Can you tell I'm not a fan of winter? But the season does have some perks. Christmas, for one. Christmas music, for another (or at least, being able to listen to it without half the world thinking you're crazy). Ice skating. Sledding and/or skiing if you live in the north or go on vacation. Hands down, though, this has to be the greatest winter perk of all: egg nog. Why, you wonder, do I cite egg nog as the best? Well, it being winter doesn't automatically mean Christmas is just around the corner. Take Australia, for example. (I almost said take Antarctica, but it's always winter there!) Christmas is in the summer! Sledding and skiing you can do any time of year if you go on vacation (or live in Antarctica), and you can ice skate any time of year also by visiting the indoor rinks. Therefore, egg nog. It is the only thing that is associated with only winter, no matter what. And I'm not the only one who enjoys the stuff: A couple years ago, we bought several quarts and froze them, waiting patiently for six months. In July, we pulled them out, defrosted them, poured ourselves a nice tall glass of egg nog--then promptly gagged and threw out the rest of the liquid cardboard. Maybe if we had frozen them in something else...Bleh, it was gross. But in the winter, fresh from Walmart...um, um, good! Down to the last drop!

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
