We called ahead, so when we got there, they ushered us straight back to my room with no mask kerfuffle.
On Friday, I brought up with my therapist my concerns from the other therapist, and MY therapist said don't worry about anything, she's the one who has final say, not the other lady. So I went into this appointment with higher hopes, and the doctor asked how I felt therapy was going. I said good. He checked some of my reflexes and etc and agreed with me. Said, "let's continue therapy!" I'm not sure if this will be reevaluated every month or the next time I have an appointment (6 months from now).
Botox:
At my last appointment, my hand was so tight and spastic I asked about botox shots to help loosen it up. He said that was an option, but to try therapy first. I'm happy to report therapy is helping so much we took the option of botox off the table!
Trileptal:
This is my anti-seizure medication. The meds are working at the dose I'm taking, and he didn't want to change the dose right now. The confusion I was experiencing during the seizures has completely gone away, and the frequency of my side going numb has significantly decreased. The pain I have during has also reduced! All around successful medication with very limited manifested side effects.
Blood work:
Since Trileptal has a history of negatively affecting blood, the doctor ordered CBC and CMP panels. (I recognized those from the medical shows I watch, always the first round of blood work ordered on anyone!) To get this done at the hospital, I have to wear a mask during the whole thing, so I'll call my PCP and have him do it (no masks at his office last time I was there). However, I do need to switch to a PCP closer to me (this one is currently about 50 minutes away, near where we used to live).
Praises:
-therapy is going well and I get to keep going
-hand spasticity is improving (albeit slowly, but I can tell improvement!)
-medication is working
Prayer requests:
-hand spasticity to continue improving
-blood work to come back clean so I can keep taking the meds
-the meds to continue working on (and healing???) my brain (can pharmaceuticals heal things like God's nature can? I don't know, but it's a good thing to pray toward!)
-I am looking for a new doctor closer to home
-another hospital in the area did away with their mask mandate, so pray this hospital does also! It would make life easier!
