You can see how the velcro holds it on there.

Last year, I saw this genius idea, probably on Pinterest, to make a portable wrapping station. They took it farther than I did, but I am happy with what I made. My husband had this rolly-thing he probably got off the side of the road somewhere. He screwed a bar stool (that he really did get off the side of the road) upside down into the rolly-thing. You can actually see the part where you sit on the stool on top of the rolly-thing. Then I sewed a pocket. I took a piece of fabric and folded it right sides together, only I made one end stick up past the other end. A hem here and stitch around there, then I turned it right-side out and Voila! I measured it and my extra sticking-up flap was too short, so I found some decidedly Christmas-y fabric and hemmed it and sewed it onto the end of the flap. I measured again and it was perfect! It was a good thing, too, because that's the last of that material. (As I write this, I realize I cut and sewed and then measured not once, but twice. Oops.) To make it stay I ironed on some velcro. You can see the soft side of the velcro at the very bottom, right at the opening of the pocket. Ta-Da! Labels, scissors, marker, and tape--they all fit perfectly. Looking into the pocket... Don't judge my tape. It works better than little tape and there's a whole lot more on there, too, so I don't run out after every ten presents. You can see how the velcro holds it on there. If you preferred, you could take it off while wrapping and just leave it velcroed to the stool during storage. It's nice sturdy fabric, so it should hold up just fine.

I saw this at your house and thought it was a wonderful idea. I did NOT see your pocket--that is amazing--everything is close at hand but not falling all over the place.

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
