This is his stocking at our house. I used it as a template.
When I made stockings for my parents, EJ asked me if I would make him a monster one. (Last year I made him an apron out of the same monster material.) This is his stocking at our house. I used it as a template. I have two patterns of monster material, and the basketball toe inspired me to try this cool design. I used paper as my pattern for the toe and heel, and it took my husband explaining in great detail how I could sew the pieces on. It's too complicated to explain, especially since I didn't take any in-progress pics. The main idea is that you have to start at one corner and just bunch the material around as you sew. I didn't understand until I was shown. I was very nervous to cut the pieces out of the main stocking, but I measured like, three times, and finally just took a deep breath and snipped away. The pieces sewn together: I sewed the two sides together and then did the hem at the top, on purpose this time. I realized that when I make a double-sided apron, that's the way the pattern tells me to do it. It does make the flappy parts at the top not stick out, like they do for my dad's stocking. Since I realized that you would be able to see the sewing from the hook, I sewed it in a star shape. And now EJ has a stocking for our house and a stocking for when he spends Christmas Eve with his grandparents. :-)

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
