I warned you--coming out my ears!!! This one is so fluffy, you can't even see the pattern I used. It was just two double crochets and skip one, so it's not like it's a pattern you NEED to see. But oh, can't you just tell how soft and fluffy this yarn is! When he was little, my brother would call it "suvvy". I'm going to crochet yellow, pink, green, red, and/or purple flowers to attach to the ends of this scarf. I'll have to see what I have/what I can bum off my mom. :-) I'll post pics of the flowers on the scarf when I get around to finishing it, too.
In addition to the scarf I made with the super soft yarn, I have made several other scarves lately. This one was made with blue and yellow. I crocheted five rows of blue and five rows of yellow and repeated. Then I did a ruffle of blue around the whole thing, and I was going to just leave it, but it looked a little funny, so I did a yellow ruffle. I like it. And it's pretty soft yarn, too. I still had a small ball of each color left, so I made a scrunchy. Scrunchie? I crocheted with both colors at once to get this color: And then I had a skein of blue and a skein of pink, and I didn't think one skein would make a scarf, so I found this awesome pattern where I started in the middle and crocheted the length of the scarf back and forth--middle blue, pink, blue, pink, and border of blue. Then I did the exact same thing on the other side, starting back with my original chain of 203 stitches. The short edges had all the loose ends from changing colors so often. I hate working the ends in, and anyway, it needed a border of sorts, so I continued the single crochet border and just covered up all those loose ends. Turns out I still had half a skein of each color, so I'm doing the same lacy shell stitch, changing colors after every row, only this direction instead: At the end, I'll do a single crochet stitch all the way around for the border. I might have to find some pretty white instead of pink or blue. We'll see how it turns out. I was thinking about going back to the original chain and crocheting a mirror image, but I think I won't. Any opinions? I'll post photos again when I finish it. I warned you--coming out my ears!!! This one is so fluffy, you can't even see the pattern I used. Now that I have a bunch of scarves made, I'm going to print out little cards about how much Jesus loves you and donate them to our local Rape Response. I called them last year to see if they'd be interested in giving scarves out to abuse victims, and the lady in charge sounded very interested. If anyone else would like to participate, the only rule of thumb is that the material be super soft that the lady could rub on her cheek. Other groups say it has to be at least 5 inches wide and 6 feet long, but then you don't have as much freedom with cool patterns, so I just say, make the yarn be super soft. If you are interested, please contact me and we can set up a meeting time to tag and bag the scarves!

As long as I don't have to abide by the 5" wide and 6' long rule, I'm in!! Love the way your blue and pink scarf has a blue circle down the middle!! Glad you can work with those "hairy" yarns--I sure can't! LOL

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
