I found this idea on pinterest, to paint and decorate a pinecone to look like a snowman on skis. At first we were going to gather pinecones from my in-law's backyard, but then my husband came home with a box full of them from a house he worked at. I pulled two pinecones out of the box (any ideas with what we should do with the rest of them?? There's like, 35 left!). (Thanks, Grammy, for the new jommies!) After letting the paint dry on the pinecones and our popsicle sticks (mine are purple, his are light green), we (I) hotglued pompoms and felt all over to turn the pinecone into a snowman. I of course let him choose his own colors, and I think they turned out exceptionally well. I cannot wait to hang them on our tree! I wrapped the pipecleaner around the pinecone and hot glued it to make it stay. We curled the ends and I put a dab of hot glue on, then we poked the toothpick up through the hand. I did the same thing for the pompom. I glued two pompoms to either end of a short piece of pipecleaner (I think the one from pinterest glued the pompom earmuffs to a piece of felt) and I glued the earmuffs to the top of the head. I put some glue on a leaf and jabbed the orange pipecleaner in. I wrapped a piece of felt material around for the scarf (not felt like the 12x12 squares you buy that I made my countdown to Christmas calendar from, but felt that you would buy off the bolt in the fabric section at Jo-Ann's). A dab of glue made it stay. The pinecone from pinterest also had eyes--they looked like they were drawn on with a marker. But I honestly didn't know where I would put eyes, so our snowmen are blind. :-) The snowman from pinterest also had three dimensional snow on the skis, but...seriously?! We didn't need to do that. (Mine) "Cheese!"

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
