And on that note, here is my post about my jar ideas (slightly different from anyone else's). First up, chocolate. Specifically, candy cane chocolate.
I am painfully aware that the internet doesn't need anymore "jar gift" blog posts. When I decided last Christmas that I wanted to make jar gifts for some friends, I browsed pinterest and google and was overwhelmed by the number of articles and posts about it. Many of them were simply links to the same three or four blogs, perpetuating the endless maze of "who did it first." And on that note, here is my post about my jar ideas (slightly different from anyone else's). First up, chocolate. Specifically, candy cane chocolate. I found these aDORable canvases at Walmart for like, 97 cents, or something. Aren't they so cute?!? I ended up putting one in the jar first--it just fit--and setting the paints down in on top of it. Then one canvas on top like these are in the pic. I think I returned the third...I waited too long to write this and clearly didn't take enough pictures! I had fun picking out the "loves to bake" gift. I looked on the label of the cinnamon sticks and it says to put a couple in a pot of simmering water to make your house smell good. And here I thought they were just a craft ingredient. I thought this would be my "cop-out" gift, but turns out I invested a lot more time and effort into this one than any other. I cut colored printer paper in strips and found inspiring Bible verses and quotes to write on them. I took a length of baker's twine and wrapped each strip up. The filled-up jar is so pretty! This one is a hodge-podge of "church survival" plus washi tape and some encouraging notes. (These was still a lot of room left, so I made more notes!) This one was kind of a, walk through walmart and dollar tree and see what I find, kind of jar. :-) I also made a "spa" gift with nail stuff and some notes. I think there was another one, too, but I don't remember what it was. When I finished making all the jars, I cut a swatch of Christmas-y fabric and wrapped it with some baker's twine around the top of each jar, since I didn't have lids. I had to fuss with it a little before I figured out the twine wasn't going to work. I ended up using a glittery elastic hair tie for each jar. That worked SO much better. No pictures of that, either. Clearly I need to work on taking more pictures when I'm doing something cool! Anyway, feel free to steal my ideas. I probably got them from someone else!

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
