Today's project was inspired by Pinterest. Seems like it's been a while since I've done anything from there. Here are my supplies: I cut strips of material (the Pinterest directions say to use lengths of ribbon, but I don't have that much ribbon and I have an abundance of fabric). I had my helper tie the pieces between the lights. We just did every other space, to leave room for the corresponding color. Next I cut out the green pieces. Really so easy, and it looks so awesome around the window! I did the same thing with the blue and the gingham-looking material for the other window. And then I did it with the red and white material for a strand of green wired white lights for around the TV. After cutting out ALL that material, I have two small bruises on my knuckles from the shears. But it was worth it. Also, we can't have all the lights on and the heater going at the same time, because it will blow a fuse. So for the first part of the night, we have the heater going, then when it gets warm enough, we unplug the heater and turn on all the lights!

cool! I did something with our lights we have over our bed that is (kind of) similar...I was going to use tulle, but saw (on Pinterest) the idea to fold origami boxes, so I did and we had already hung the lights, so I just put the boxes over some of the lights and it looks really nice! Maybe I will still do some tulle in between the lights...

Love it! I did something new with lights this year too! I put some lacey material (cream color) and those pretty pearl-covered ornaments Aunt Pat made me a long time ago in a basket and had a string of lights in and around all the fabric and ornaments. It was so pretty! As I continued decorating, I began to smell something quite warm-smelling. Couldn't figure it out for the longest--then it dawned on me! Yep--the lights were overheating in that basket! Several of the ornaments felt hot, and the glue holding the pearl ropes on them were loose!! OOPS!! So, I now have a basket with lacey fabric and ornaments and NO lights!

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
