I finished the blanket (both skeins using the bigger hook!) and it needed a finishing touch, so I gathered up about 7 different colors and went to the one person in our house that would have no clue about colors--my color-blind hubby. I rested each ball of yarn one at a time against the blanket and asked which looked best. He choose this yellow. I don't know if it was a random, "let me chose quick so she'll leave me alone" decision or what, but after putting the yellow border on, I tend to agree that it was the best color choice.
I can't believe what I did here. I bought this camo yarn at Michael's a month or so ago, and I got two skeins because I just felt like the blanket I would make from it would need two skeins. So I crocheted the first skein into the first half of a blanket. The stitches felt a little tight, but I didn't think anything of it. Until I looked in my bucket and saw my other hook. Now, if you don't crochet, this may not seem like a big deal. But it is. It's a very big deal. Instead of connecting my yarn and continuing the blanket, I took the second skein and started over--with the bigger hook. A few rows into it, I lined up the two blankets and you can see the difference in size! The left picture is made with the smaller hook, and the stitches are so tight you can barely see carpet. In real life you could definitely tell a difference! To make this pattern, you start out with a chain 6, double crochet into the first chain, chain 3, dc, ch 3, dc, ch 3 and connect with the middle of the original ch 6. That gives you the inside plus sign. Then you start the pattern: every other row, 3 double crochets inside each ch 3 section, and at the corners, chain 3 to make the corner. The other every other row is this: chain 3 and single crochet in between the 3 double crochets of the previous row, all the way around. Now if you don't get it, that's fine. But in two months when I want to make this pattern again and can't find where I originally found it, I can come back here and see my own directions. If I can figure it out, yay for me. If not, I will have to seriously reevaluate my writing ability! All ready for Her Choice!

I want to make this pattern! Unfortunately, "other" things have kept me busy and not able to finish any more blankets right now. Hopefully I'll get caught up!

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
