This is the second purple blanket I made using one more ball of that yarn. Two down, 4 balls to go! This pattern is your basic start-in-the-middle, 3 double crochets, chain one until you get to your desired size (chain 3 for the corners). That weird-looking space line up the top is where I joined my rows. I don't know how to make it not look like that. Any ideas, anyone?
These are my tenth and eleventh baby blankets this year! I am so excited! I took the first five I made to Her Choice several weeks ago. The lady I gave them to was super excited to see them. She said that they offer parenting classes, and anyone who attends gets points. Every Wednesday they let everyone go "shopping" in a store of baby items they've collected, and the parents can use their points toward stuff. She said she would definitely put my blankets in the store. At that point another worker came out from the back and exclaimed over the blankets. She rubbed the bright and colorful one and said the Latinas would love that one. A few days later I got a thank you letter in the mail. :-) So when I have five more ready, I'll take them again and ask how the blankets were received and if anyone "bought" any yet. So. if you're good at math, you are probably thinking right now that I made a mistake. Tenth and eleventh blankets--five plus five equals ten. Well, one of those eleven blankets was for my friend who moved away recently who is due this summer, and another one I made was really a toddler blanket, and I'm trying to sell it so I have money to buy more baby-soft yarn. (Gotta fund the obsession somehow, right?) Anyway, I have three, and I'm working on the fourth right now. Knowing the mothers will probably know the gender of their baby before they pick out a blanket has greatly eased my apprehension about using gender-neutral colors. Hence, two purple blankets: I absolutely love the pattern of this one. It's called "Lacy V" and it's in my book of patterns, so I won't take the space to write out the pattern. Unless you want it. Then just let me know and I'll tell you! Otherwise, next time I want to use this pattern, I'll just look in my book. The purple I used for these two blankets was from my 6 balls of this yarn I originally bought to make a big blanket for my first niece when she was born. She is 6 1/2. Obviously I never got around to making her a purple blanket, but last Christmas I made up for it by making her a red and white one that looks suspiciously "Alabama-ish". For both blankets, I did the trim in a less soft, much more sparkly white. I like the effect. I love these blankets. If I am ever blessed to have a daughter, I will definitely buy more yarn like this and make her a big one out of it. As my brother said when he was little, it's so suvvy. :-)

My head is bowing in shame as I report I've only gotten one done! My second was torn apart once I realized that the solid yarn I had gotten to go with the variegated was NOT the same weight and was stretching out the blanket to a trapezoid. :( BUT--I am attempting to use those two yarns now to make scarves for the other project you head up! :) LOVE these purple blankets!

These are really pretty! I like the pretty stitches for the first one! It looks so delicate. And the trim is the perfect color/sparkly-ness. :)

Who am I, you ask?
In 2006 I had a stroke, and every day my husband encourages me to use my remaining brain cells to the best of my ability. I love to organize, make crafts, and go on adventures (safe ones). I hope that through my blog posts, you will be encouraged to accept and make the best of challenges God throws at your life. Categories
